our man dejay birtch is gearing up for the 2nd annual singlespeed arizona ride the weekend of february 10th. read on for more info. SINGLESPEED ARIZONA is coming 2/10/07. This second year event is sure to be the best one yet, not much to live up to. HAHAHA. This year the field will be limited to 100 riders and there will be a registration process. On Nov. 6th the gates will open for you to send me an email at This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it with your Name, Address, Phone #, Male of Female. Put SSAZ07 in the subject box IF YOU WANT TO DO THE RIDE. After I get your email, I will send you the wavier. Then you must print and fill out the wavier and snail mail it back to me with a donation of $20.00 smackers. This cash goes towards the “CAUSE”= food, beverages, bands??, smiles and most likely a little suffering. When all is done and if you somehow don’t believe the cause was worthy and lived up to your high standards then you can have your donation back. If I don’t see your waiver and $$ by the 5th of January, I will do my best to get a hold of you (sometimes my best just isn’t good enough) and then your spot will be given to someone else. When I receive your package I will send you a map of the course via internet. Don’t lose your map you may need it. The group will meet at Agua Caliente Park (base of Mt. Lemmon area) and roll out at 9am. Be there early!!!!! The course will be about 40 miles with some dirt/jeep road and lots of tech single track. This ride IS NOT for the timid. Last year the course was a bit tougher and took some riders almost 8 hours (Chewey and friends), but the first to make it back did it in just under 4 hours. Due to some internet problems the singleswizzle site has been more problems then what it is worth. So this is what I’m reduced to, but I guess it is the way it is supposed to be. One at a time and word of mouth. SO TELL SOMEBODY. If there is more to know I’ll put the emails out there. P.S. of course….This year the SSAZ is the week before the 24 Hours in the Ol’Pueblo. So if possible come for the week. I’ll be heading up some ride on Sun, Mon, Tues, and Wednesday.
